WHISPERS OF THE BODY

"The way you’ve beautifully integrated yoga into somatics is exactly what I’ve been searching for. It feels intuitive, nourishing, and grounding. "

~ Participant

Welcome to 5 days of somatic yoga to stimulate the vagus nerve, befriend your body, come home to yourself.

The practices in this course are rooted in yoga, somatics and the Polyvagal Theory by Dr. Stephen Porges. In each session, I weave the traditional teachings of yoga with somatic awareness and the understanding of the vagus nerve, which plays a central role in our emotional, mental and physical wellbeing.  â€‹â€‹

The practices consist of certain yoga postures, conscious breathing techniques, mindfulness & vagal toning exercises working with the body towards reclaiming safety, resilience, inner power, connection (to self, others and the world)  and opening to receive, grow and transform. This approach is rooted in non-violence and compassion inviting gentleness, curiosity, choice as we move towards possibility, authenticity and freedom.

This short 5-session course is suitable for anyone and especially if you:

* Experience symptoms of anxiety, trauma, PTSD, dissociation or dysregulation.
* Experience chronic stress/ pain/ fatigue or overwhelm
* Are looking to develop more compassion and kindness towards yourself
* Want to learn more about your body’s wisdom and establish connection with deeper parts of yourself

SOMATIC PRACTICES, THE NERVOUS SYSTEM & TRAUMA

Whenever we work with somatic ("soma" meaning of the body) practices, we are interacting with patterns imprinted on our nervous system, in every cell of our body. If there is an unprocessed trauma stored in the body, it might trigger a response such as an uncomfortable feeling, sensation or an emotion.

This is a natural response of the body -  in order to process an unresolved trauma, the feeling, the sensation is brought to the surface so it can be felt, given space and attention.

DUAL ATTENTION

Although healing and integration come from giving space to the uncomfortable feelings, emotions, it is important that we do so at our own pace without overwhelming the system. Dual attention invites you to turn your attention away from the unpleasant/intense experience whenever you need. You can choose to turn your attention away by looking at your surroundings, anchoring your attention on one part of your body or anything that brings you to a place of grounding, safety.
